Short book review: "Klara and the Sun" by Kazuo Ishiguro

A highly biased assessment would be that this is the best SF book I have read since “The Three-Body Problem”. The book is placed at the intersection of technology, ethics, and social relations. It touches upon the complex questions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its explainability, genetic engineering and its risks, as well as the possible definition of a person as a “sufficient amount of information”. The plot is immersive, such that several unresolved doubts and incoherences (e.g. the father engineer sabotaging the polluting machine) are either forgiven to the author or are used as a mental exercise for the reader.
